Life is all about time management and getting your priorities straight. I don't think you can just find your perfect way of planning in one time. To be honest, I have had my fair share of trial and errors. Planning is something personal and is different for everyone. There is no "wrong" way to plan, but you have to create your own style that works best for you. I will give you some of my do's and don'ts to help you find your own planning style:
So let's start with some do's:
- Try to plan on time: make time to plan one time a week for the whole week. I like to this on the weekends and plan ahead for one or two weeks.
- Find a planner that suits you: it took me about five different planners to get to the planner that suits me best. Now I have settled with the Moleskine planner/journal with on one side a weekly spread and on the other side space for notes. I use the space for notes to make 'to do boxes'. I'll make a different post about a few planners/journals that I would recommend using!
- Divide: so one thing I have learnt is to have multiple short study sessions. I don't know about you, but I would be lying if I told myself that I could do all my homework on Sunday from 10am till 5 pm. I would study for like one hour and get bored and start a new addiction on Netflix. So my tip is to plan short study sessions over the week for about thirty to sixty minutes.
Not too perfect: Don't be so hard on yourself. Give yourself some free space and don't be too perfect on planning. If I make a planning that's too perfect and I don't get too every single task on my planning, I will get demotivated x 10000. So note to self: You are a human, you make mistakes, unplanned things come up every week, so make sure to keep this in mind when you plan ahead. And it's okay if you don't get everything done in one week, just move it to the next week.
Love,
TAB.
